Isolation Unit shelving MLSA

Why not take measures against earthquakes?
This is Japan's first earthquake-resistant bookshelf.
The earthquake-resistant unit absorbs the shaking of an earthquake and reduces the risk of books falling.

Features

  1. By reducing the fall of library materials during an earthquake, this system not only prevents injuries caused by falling books but also helps ensure evacuation routes remain clear.
  2. There is no impact on storage capacity. Normal access to library materials is not affected.
  3. Seismically isolated bookcases that activate can be easily returned to their original position. This contributes to reduced restoration efforts and the early reopening of facilities.
  4. By reducing the fall of library materials during an earthquake, this system also minimizes damage to library materials.
  5. Even during aftershocks, it helps reduce the falling of library materials. This contributes to reducing restoration and repair work.
  6. Earthquake waves transmitted to the book shelf body are reduced to one-seventh or less. (Depth direction; company test values)

Quake Test

Generally, quake resistant bookshelf is adopted as anti quake measures. It resists the quake (energy) by the reinforced shelving structure.
As a result of test, quake resistant bookshelf was not collapsed. However, beam was bent, floor fixation is removed, and books fallen.
Seismic Isolation Bookshelf does not counter the quake, but absorbs a quake energy.
As a result of test, it reduced collapse of bookshelf and fall of books.
